The Daily Mail reported that as Europe begins to shut down their countries again after recent spikes in Covid cases, the European Chief for the World Health Organization (WHO), Hans Kluge, says closures aren’t necessary.
He claimed that the new closures wouldn’t be necessary if the European countries with spikes could get its “mask use” to reach “95%.”
Kluge said that these lockdowns shouldn’t be used lightly, and Europe should view lockdowns as a “last resort measure.” However, Kluge admits that “mask use is by no means a panacea and needs to be done in combination with other measures.”
The virus has over a 99% survival rate. Every time they talk about shutting it all down because Covid cases are rising, repeat to yourself, “this is fear-mongering for a virus that has a 99% survival rate.”
Kluge said that “children are not driving infections,” and closing schools should not be on the table during the second wave of shutdowns. The report says that ‘Britain, France, and Germany are among the countries to have kept classrooms open” this fall after closing them when the first wave hit.
Kluge claims that “Europe is once again the epicenter of the pandemic, together with the United States.” He added that these ‘health systems are struggling.’
He failed to show proof of the health systems being overwhelmed. The United States’ health system is not overwhelmed. Our President used the lockdown to prepare for us to stay open. Our stockpiles for PPE, therapeutics, and respirators are plentiful.
Kluge says that the successful vaccines coming from American pharmaceutical companies are “not a silver bullet because we know the supply will be limited, particularly in the beginning.” He says that after a “tough six months ahead,” the vaccine will be seen as a “light at the end of the tunnel.”
Back in July, Europe was hailed by Dr. Fauci as the model for “managing coronavirus.” Dr. Fauci said that America “shut down only about 50%” of the country during the strict lockdowns in March, April, and May. He claimed that Europe’s “stringent shutdown rules allowed it to better manage the Covid-19 pandemic compared with the US.”
We are now in November, and European countries are either in a second full-blown draconian lockdown or in the process of starting another draconian lockdown. Did Fauci forget the information available about ‘herd immunity?”
Herd immunity will happen with or without a vaccine; lockdowns interfere and are only delaying the inevitable. In March, we were told the lockdowns were not to stop a single death but rather allow us the opportunity to bring the medical community enough information to tackle the virus on a national level.
We did that.
We now have top-of-the-line therapeutics and vaccines. We know which category of people the virus affects the most. Hospitals have the supplies they need to combat spikes in hospitalization rates.
Europe’s strict lockdowns have done nothing to stop the virus. In the end, the virus will spread the idea that a single death is too many is highly impractical. Saying Europe handled Covid better is like judging a beauty contest winner by using a math test.
